By material type of the carrier tape:
The material of the carrier tape mainly includes two categories: plastic (polymer) and paper. Embossed carrier tapes are mainly made of plastic materials, and the mainstream in the market is PC (Polycarbonate) carrier tape, PS (Polystyrene) and ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer resin) carrier tape. In addition, there are also a small number of carrier tapes made of PET, APET and other materials. Punched carrier tapes are mainly made of paper or PE composite materials.PC materials are characterized by high intensity, good transparency, good dimensional stability, high glass transition temperature, and strong heat resistance. The mechanical intensity of PS material is lower than that of PC material, so sometimes it is made of three-layer composite sheet with ABS material to improve the tensile intensity of the carrier tape. The mechanical intensity of PET material is close to PC, but because it is a crystalline material, the dimensional stability is poor. By the molding method of the carrier tape, it can be divided into intermittent (flat die stamping) and continuous (roller rotation) molding methods. Compared with the intermittent method, the continuous method usually has better dimensional stability and higher dimensional accuracy of the product. For the intermittent molding method, it is more suitable for preparing large-sized pockets.
